Cool Lipo Liposuction Procedure

Separator

The CoolLipo liposuction procedure is performed in your physician's office. You may be awake during the entire process or your physician may prescribe a sedative before the procedure.

After the treatment area is anesthetized, an incision is made through the skin and a small cannula (wand-like apparatus which contains the laser fiber) is inserted into the treatment area. The cannula/laser fiber makes contact with the fat under the skin as the physician maneuvers it. The fat is broken up and liquefied by the laser energy and a syringe or micro-cannula is used to remove the fat.

When the liposuction treatment is finished, a steri-strip is applied to the small incision(s). Then the treated area is wrapped with a compression bandage. Instructions will be provided concerning activity level and when the compression bandage can be removed.

Here are some common Cool Lipo Questions:

How long will the liposuction procedure take?

Depending on the area being treated, the average time for the liposuction procedure is one hour per individual area.

How long will healing take for the treated area?

Each patient's liposuction procedure and individual healing abilities are factors in the time frame for recovery. You may have slight bruising, if any, and the small incision should heal within a matter of days.

When can I expect to see results?

Results should be visible within a week of the liposuction procedure. A continual improvement of skin texture and firmness will be noticeable in the treated area two to six months after treatment.

Can larger body areas be treated with CoolLipo, such as the abdomen or hips?

CoolLipo is ideal for small, fatty trouble areas like the neck, chin and arms. As of now, in larger areas like the stomach and thighs, the CoolLipo procedure is used to enhance the results of standard liposuction.

What is the difference between CoolLipo and similar laser-assisted lipolysis procedures?

CoolLipo has a unique 1320 nm wavelength that not only gives fat lipolysis; it also provides tightening and lifting benefits. Minimal risk of pigmentary changes exist due to the 1320 wavelength.
